Anastacia Biography

Talent is in the singer’s cradle: As the daughter of a German-born singer and a Broadway actress, she took an early interest in music. Before going solo, she started working as a studio singer for artists such as Tiffany, Jamie Foxx and Paula Abdul in 1990. It was not until 1993 that she recorded her own song “One More Chance”, but she could not yet secure a record deal. Also the song “Forever Luv”, recorded the following year with David Morales, does not yet give her a breakthrough.
But that changed in the late 90s when she reached the finals of MTV’s talent show “The Cut”. Now under contract with Sony’s label Daylight Records, her first studio album “Not That Kind” reaches the Top 5 in Germany, Austria and Great Britain in 2000, where it is awarded five times gold, platinum and triple platinum. In Switzerland, the album even becomes a number 1 hit and can once again secure triple platinum.

Sustained success

After the first big success, things are steadily improving: the album “Freak of Nature”, released in 2001, also reaches No. 1 in Germany and Switzerland, Top 5 in Austria and Great Britain, as well as platinum awards in all four countries.
As a result, in 2002 she was invited to record the title “Love Is a Crime” for the film “Chicago” and to contribute the title song to the World Cup. She can also be seen with other international stars such as Cher, Celine Dion and Shakira in the programme “VH1 Divas”. 2004 the singer returns with the album “Anastacia”, which is awarded five times platinum in Germany alone and reaches number one in eleven countries.
One year later the star took part in the project “Pieces of a Dream” for which she recorded the song “I Belong to You (Il Ritmo Della Passione)” with Eros Ramazzotti. The album “Heavy Rotation” will follow in 2008 and in the next few years she will tour Europe and work on collaborations such as the song “Stalemate” with the band Ben’s Brother, the duet “Safety” with the singer Dima Bilan, and “Burning Star” with Natalia Druyts.
2012 her own cover album “It’s a Man’s World” followed. After a break due to illness, the band will continue in 2014 with the Stuodialbum “Resurrection”. Another album, “Evolution”, will be released in 2017.

Multi-award winning pop pioneer with international success

In the course of her career, the artist has received awards throughout Europe. Already in 2000 she wins, for example, in the category “Best Female” at the Italian Music Awards, as well as “Best International Female” at the M6 Awards. “Best-selling International Artist” at the World Music Awards, “Best Newcomer” at the MTV Europe Music Awards, as well as “Best Newcomer” at Golden Europe and is nominated for two further categories. In 2001, she even wins in 12 categories of different awards. In the following years, the international success of the musician is awarded again and again. In 2017, she is even crowned “Pioneer of Pop” at the SWR3 New Pop Festival.

Social involvement

The singer has achieved worldwide success, not only with her music but also with her social commitment. She received four “Humanitarian Awards” at the GQ Men of The Year Awards, the Radio Rainbow Award, The Children for Peace and The Global Gift Gala. She was also awarded the “Honorary Award of the German Sustainability Award”.
In doing so, she has made a special effort for various purposes: After suffering from breast cancer twice, she set up the Anastacia Fund, to which she contributed proceeds from some of her albums and the sale of T-shirts she designed. Another charity collection will benefit the earthquake victims in Pakistan in 2005.
In addition, the musician also participates in many AIDS awareness events such as the Life Ball 2006 or the Charity Event 46664 organised by Nelson Mandela.
