Nelly Kim Furtado (born December 2, 1978 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist of Portuguese descent and Grammy Award winner, among others. She is also an actress and presenter. Except for the debut album, all albums were in the Top 5 charts in Germany.

- In early 2007, Furtado’s Loose and All Good Things (Come to an End) simultaneously topped the German album, single and download charts for several weeks.
- For selling over 1 million digital units of her album Loose and its accompanying singles, Furtado was awarded the newly created Platinum Digital Award following her Berlin concert on March 12, 2007. She is the first artist to surpass the million-unit mark.[20]
- Loose was in the Top 100 of the German album charts from June 26, 2006 to June 15, 2008, a total of 103 weeks. Within these two years, Furtado’s third album alone spent 49 weeks in the Top Ten, eight of them at number one. It is the most successful album in 2007 in Germany, where it ranks twelfth in the list of best-selling albums of the first decade of the 21st century.
Sustainable commitment
- In early March 2011, Furtado decided to donate her $1 million fee, which she had received for a 45-minute performance for the Gaddafi clan in Italy, to charity.[21] She also donated $1 million that same year to Free The Children, an organization dedicated to helping children in Kenya.[22]
- In 2014, Nelly Furtado received the Honorary Award of the German Sustainability Prize for her exemplary humanitarian commitment, which primarily benefits young women in East Africa.[23]
