In 2001 the two artists celebrated a brilliant comeback with the opening of the London club “Ocean”, which culminated in 2002 with the release of the new studio album “Cruelty Without Beauty”. After a few years of musical excursions to chanson and Russian folk songs, the likeable Briton had once again arrived exactly where fans love him most!
Nevertheless, Almond likes to keep on experimenting and surprises again and again with experimental electro sounds, dark-melancholic ballads or the one or other catchy dancefloor piece.
The biography of the singer
Born in Southport in the north-west of England in 1957, this dazzling personality did not have an easy start in life. His differentness made him an outsider even as a child. At that time, he probably had no idea that exactly this otherness would one day make him famous.
Schoolmates excluded him and beat up the boy, who simply liked to put on make-up. David Bowie was the great example of the artist, and he finally got him to study art and to move to a more liberal London.
At the end of the 1970s he met Dave Ball at the artists’ residence. It was the strange sounds that his fellow student produced in his room that fatefully brought the two together.Ball experimented with a “strong” synthesizer and shortly after Soft Cell, one of the great success stories of 80s electro-pop music was born.
The velvety voice, profound lyrics and catchy songs have since then inspired millions of listeners. Marc Almond is one who has always remained true to himself. His extravagant appearance is his trademark, which is immediately recognized all over the world.

When he celebrated his 30th stage anniversary in 2010 with a big European tour, thousands of fans came and they all wanted just one thing! to hear “Tainted Love” once again live from the singer’s throat. After almost 30 solo albums and the preceding top hits with Soft Cell, there is always that one song that makes the masses cheer.
In the late 80s the singer inspired with numerous cover versions of old hits as well as duets with stars of the gay or alternative music scene. In 1985 he climbed back into the charts with the former Donna Summer hit “I feel Love” together with top star Jimmy Sommerville.

The absolute top hit, however, was the new edition of “Something’s Gotten Hold of My Heart” in 1989. At the side of 60s legend Gene Pintey, who also sang the original, Almond once again stormed the international charts. In 2001, he returned to the screens and hit parades with his usual pompous pop opera “Total Eclipse” together with the successful German pop duo Rosenstolz.
