Press release – Hamburg/Düsseldorf, October 13, 2017 – This year’s honorary awards of the German Sustainability Award go among others to the Scottish singer and activist Annie Lennox and to the German musician Marius Müller-Westernhagen. With these awards, the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. honours their exemplary commitment and social commitment.
The Sustainability Award is Europe’s highest distinction for ecological and social commitment.
Artist Relations Manager Stefan Lohmann from Hamburg is responsible for the contacts to the stars. The prizes will be awarded on 8 December 2017 in Düsseldorf.
“Our honorary prize winners are icons of humanitarian, political and ecological commitment,” says Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, initiator of the award. “They assume responsibility and make the idea of sustainability popular.
Annie Lennox is one of the world’s most influential human rights activists. As the female part of “Eurythmics” and a solo artist, she has sold more than 80 million records and is also known for her charitable work, among others with Amnesty International, Greenpeace and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. For more than 25 years she has been dedicated to the fight against AIDS/HIV and gives a voice to women and children in the poorest countries of the world with her foundation “The Circle”.
