Andrew Roachford Biography

His uncle Bill Roachford, born in a musical domain, was a virtuoso saxophonist. However, the musical ball began to roll as Andrew took to the streets with his uncle. The appearances in the jazz scene in those days gave him a good foundation for the future. “I was lucky enough to start DJing at the age of 14. I was in the middle of this whole jazz scene, which was an interesting experience. She taught me musically how to listen and how to entertain. My uncle always told me that you have to give people a show.”

Andrew had been Columbia’s best-selling national act for over ten years. As if further evidence was needed, the fact that Andrew Roachford was approached by luminaries like Michael Jackson and Chaka Khan to write songs speaks volumes.

“I keep pushing myself as an artist. When it comes to songwriting, of course I tend to dig deep. That’s how it works for me”. With platinum and gold albums, a career spanning two decades, and the last five years of writing and singing on everything from five top international dance pieces to co-writing and touring with Mike and the Mechanics, Andrew is an undeniably productive and unique talent.

It contains Andrew Roachford’s favourite title and some classics of different origins, which he arranges perfectly into a finely nuanced retro soul and pop robe. The list ranges from Bill Withers’ indestructible “Ain’t No Sunshine” through “Family Affair” by funk grandmasters Sly & The Family Stone and “Holding Back The Years” by Simply Red to “Under The Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. “This album contains some of the songs that have fired me up as a performer over the years and have helped me to make every show a magical event.
